How to Apply a Perfect Winged Eyeliner for Beginners

These days winged eyeliners are in so much trend, but a lot of women are scared to even attempt this look because it is not easy to do especially for beginners. Every time you put on makeup, you might have probably noticed that whenever you apply lipstick, it suddenly gives you an attractive glow. Same thing happens whenever you apply a winged eyeliner to your face because it suddenly adds definition to your eyes.

Most of the girls think that applying a winged eyeliner is a difficult task. It is indeed difficult to do if you’re not yet used to putting on eyeliner by yourself. But don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it at first try, applying a perfect winged eyeliner is a challenging task only for beginners. All you have to do is be patient, keep practicing, and you’ll be on your way to having a perfect winged eyeliner.

Before starting with a winged eyeliner, you must know what type of eyeliner you should use. There’s absolutely no required brand to do this but in order for you to achieve your desired look, choose a high-quality eyeliner for an easy and smooth application. We listed down the types of eyeliners below, so you know where to start.

Choose An Eyeliner According To Your Experience

Sketch eyeliner

We highly recommend this eyeliner for all makeup beginners because this eyeliner makes the application very easy. You can also easily wipe it off if you feel like you want to do another try. Its waterproof formula will not fade, and it has an array of shades, so you have a lot to choose from in case you want to break away from the usual black cat-eye look.

Liquid eyeliner

This type of eyeliner is not ideal for beginners because it can create a messy look if you’re not used to applying a winged eyeliner. However,  this is perfect for well-experienced individuals. The tip of this eyeliner bends and snaps to your eye shape making it easier to get your angles right.

Gel eyeliner

If you are a beginner and you have shaky hands, then a gel eyeliner is not advisable for you. Wiping off this eyeliner can be a tough task if you make any mistake. This is most suitable for experienced ones because it can be applied on both upper and lower eyelids. If you’re already used to creating a cat-eye look, go for this one because it makes any eye shape application easier and provides a dramatic, noticeable effect.

pencil or roll-on eyeliner

This eyeliner has a very thick tip which is not ideal for creating a winged eyeliner, but if you want a matte-look and you are already good at creating a winged liner, you can give this product a try.

Steps To Apply An Eyeliner

step 1:

Choose a perfect type of eyeliner. Keep in mind that choosing an eyeliner is based on your personal preference so don’t be afraid to try any type or brand so long as you feel you’ll feel comfortable wearing it.

step 2:

There are two things you can use for applying eyeliner in perfect winged shape, a card like credit card, gift card or a cello tape. It is also called a Tape trick.

step 3:

Take a card or a small piece of tape then put it in the corner of your eyes or in the angle of your wings.

step 5:

With the help of small strokes start drawing a straight line above your eyelid. Always remember your liner should start thin in the inner corner and look thicker towards the outer corner. Applying slightly more pressure will draw a thicker line. You can also use your other hand to gently pull your eyelid to create a nice and clean line.

Creating a perfect winged eyeliner only sounds intimidating at first, but you’ll be surprised how good you’ll become if you will just keep on practicing. It will take a few tries to get your desired look, but you have to remember that even the makeup professionals messed up before they achieve a perfect look.
