Best Home Remedies for Common Skin Problems

Despite the existence of numerous beauty products on the market, having a blemish-free skin remains one of the most challenging things that women have to go through every single day. Whether it’s acne or dark spots, finding a perfect solution to any skin issue feels exhausting and overwhelming at the same time.

Every girl wants to have flawless skin, but it’s a challenge when you’re coping with acne, freckles, moles, and even age spots. Chances are, you’ve already tried a lot of methods just to achieve a smooth and glowing skin – from buying an expensive beauty care treatment to consulting to the specialist. These solutions, even though effective, make you spend much, so why not look for options that are more affordable?

In this article, I’ve listed down a number of solutions for different skin types. I kept this list short because I want to share tips that I know would surely work, so read on and find out what are the appropriate skin remedies based on your specific needs.

DRY SKIN PROBLEM

Dry skin lacks oil; that is the reason why it needs regular moisturizing. Flakes and dry patches cause the skin to itch, which leads to another problem if not resolved. This type of skin is especially problematic during winter when it is prone to flaking, but you may also experience this any time due to too much exposure to beauty products that contain alcohol and chemicals.

There are many products on the market that could help combat dry skin, but most of them come with a hefty price tag. The natural home remedies below are not only cheap but also proven to be effective in hydrating and nourishing dry skin back to a healthy state.

Honey + Olive Oil + Beeswax Pallets

Measure equal parts of honey, beeswax, and olive oil. Melt the beeswax in a small pan over low heat. Remove it from the heat and mix it with the honey and olive oil. Apply this mixture all over your body and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Then take a shower. Repeat daily or every other day.

Ghee/Coconut Oil/Glycerin

Gently rub any of these listed things on your face and other affected areas in slow and circular motion so that it gets absorbed by the skin. Leave it for few hours before you step into the shower.

Banana Face Mask

Mash two or three bananas and apply it directly on your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.

Yogurt + Turmeric Powder + Honey

Mix two-three parts of yogurt with a half tablespoon of turmeric powder. Turmeric powder helps to remove the dead skin cells. So, use this paste as a face scrub and rinse it after 3 minutes. Later, apply some honey (which will give you extra moisturization) and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Note: If you have a dry skin problem, then use honey and oil (olive, almond, coconut oil) because these are the most powerful moisturizing agents.

OILY SKIN PROBLEM

Oily skin is challenging to manage. And how this skin problem happens? The accumulation of excess oil on your outer skin layer results to an oily skin which often leads to other issues such as whiteheads, blackheads, and blind pimples. The excess oil comes from sebaceous glands in the skin which start producing excess sebum. Sebum is not bad at all because it helps moisturize your skin and keep your healthy, but too much sebum leads to oily skin and eventually results in an acne breakout.

If you’re troubled by oily skin and looking for some easy home remedies, let us help you. Forget about buying expensive skin care regimens or using prescription drugs because the solutions you can see below are not only effective but also easy on the pocket.

Egg Whites

Egg whites effectively dry out the skin blemishes, tone and tighten up the oily skin. Apply a stiffly whipped egg white on your face and allow it to dry. Wash it off with water. Alternatively, you can make a mixture of egg white and lemon juice and apply it on the face. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing it with warm water.

Yogurt

Yogurt helps to exfoliate the skin gently and absorbs excess oil from your face. Apply the plain yogurt on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes before washing it off with cool water. Alternately mix oatmeal, honey, and yogurt and apply this mixture on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes with warm water.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are great for oily skin due to its properties of cooling and cleansing. The natural oil-absorbing acids in tomatoes help to get rid of excess oil. Rub a tomato on the skin till the juice soaks the skin. Rinse after 15 minutes with cold water.

SENSITIVE SKIN PROBLEM

If you have a sensitive skin and you’re worried about irritation caused by cosmetic products which have too many chemical contents, relax and let me give you some tips on how to resolve your skin problem. Sensitive skin is prone to skin reactions such as pustules, skin bumps or skin erosion and has a tendency toward blushing and skin flushing. Because the skin is very dry, it can no longer protect nerve endings, thus leading to sensitive skin reactions.

Like other skin types, there can be a lot of effective solutions to extremely dry skin. It is delicate and highly reactive, so taking care of this kind of skin problem requires patience. But just because your skin is dry and sensitive mean you can no longer enjoy healthy, glowing skin.

Wear Sunscreen

As sensitive skin is susceptible to sunburn, it is essential to apply sunblock if you’re planning to stay outdoors sunny days. Even little bit of sun rays on your skin is enough to irritate it, making it red and patchy.

Raw Milk

Raw milk is the best toner for sensitive skin. It is natural and hardly causes any reaction on sensitive skin. So, always try to use milk instead of chemical toners that may be harmful to your sensitive skin.

Rose Water

Rose water is also an effective toner for sensitive skin because it doesn’t cause any skin reaction. After cleaning your face with soap or face wash, dab a cotton pad soaked in rose water on your face.

Moisturize with Coconut Oil

Extra virgin coconut oil is a natural moisturizer for the sensitive skin. It has a good amount of fatty acids that help to keep your skin well moisturized and prevent dryness.
